This is by far the best laptop I’ve ever had, I love it!!
Overall: I’d give it 5 stars Battery life: 5 stars; Lasted 11 hours being used and 2 days in dormant (Probably longer but i used it.). Sight: (5/5) Crisp HD viewing, nice size screen, slick, and vibrant color, Touch: (5/5) Very thin, and lightweight, large touch pad. Hearing: (3/5) Sound is not the best, it’s kinda quite, Voice activated searching (“OK Google”). Features: (4/5) Front facing camera, WiFi, Good 16 GB memory, charger (included), 2 finger touch right click, HDMI and USB inputs, apps, themes, web store.
Only con: Without a google account (Gmail) the laptop is rendered useless.
Even better than expected. My first Chromebook and it does not disappoint! It is the easiest computer set up ever, if you have a gmail account. I charged it for the recommended 3 hours, opened it, it turned on, logged in, and I was surfing. All my settings from my other laptop are there…it is amazing.I realize there is probably a privacy trade-off but that is the way it is and the convenience for me, is worth it. Perfect for traveling or for taking to a coffee shop.Very light, easy to use, and internet, social media, and gmail/email are a breeze.Haven’t missed the delete key a bit, either.I use One Drive for work and it was there for me to log in and go, so I can use Word or Excel at anytime. It is a subscription for a year but I was already using it.I’ve had multiple tabs open and experienced no lag.Visited the app store and found some useful add-ons.There are plenty to choose from, too.No complaints so far after a week of use.Thinking it would be perfect for kids or older folks due to ease of use and really no learning curve.BTW, I still have 8 hours left since my initial charge a week ago.Very long battery life.Happy customer!
I had never used Chrome OS before, but I’ve always been the first in my social circle to adopt something new. & like each time I do, – hair flip -, it’s always worthy to recommend to other people.
Two things : BATTERY LIFE IS NO JOKE & DONT BELITTLE THIS OS. I watched Interstellar & half of Inception (long story short: assignment) back to back before the laptop died, unplugged, full brightness, earphones plugged. I wouldn’t have lasted more than half of Interstellar on my husband’s Acer Ultrabook (but then again… 10 > 4 hr battery life), plus I would have such a hard time on that laptop anyways.
Why ? CHROME OS ; ever wonder if there is a prettier like Mac, more user friendly OS, without the continuous settings of Windows, the security UNLIKE Windows (every two weeks, fast reboot to update), & if you needed to run Windows, you still can ? YEAH CHROME OS IS YOUR ANSWER. (Chromecast is your best friend after this, the catch is your Windows PC needs to be on.) Ugh, my life my life as a statistics major requires R, SPSS, the whole shebang with Windows as minimum to run, but laptops get loud with fans, laptops get heavy with power, laptops this laptops that, uuuuugh. Now, I say I AM FINE WITH IT. BECAUSE MY ASUS IS BRIGHT BLUE & ITS MAKING ME BRIGHTER TOO.
Two more things : ONE : buy an extra charger, one for the go & one for the home. For the home because obvious reasons, for the go, because you never know how far off you end up from your home all of the sudden ): TWO : remember to thank me when you get one of these & someone else compliments your bright hue & all you want to say is : ‘ CHECK OUT MY BATTERY LIFE/OS. ITS TO DIIIIE FOR. ‘
This is my second chromebook as my first (HP Chromebook 14) was plagued with problems (fan noises, touchpad problems).I opted for the 2gb memory configuration as I did not think I needed the extra memory and storage as I am not a big music or video downloader and rely on Google Drive for my storage needs.
The system’s performance is quite good and screen quality is excellent.I was looking for a "fan less" system and the Asus does not disappoint. The colors are a little weird and probably would have gone with black if I had to use the device for work – but this is my personal travel machine and hopefully the people sitting next to me on the plane won’t think I am strange given the bright blue color.
At first I was reluctant to step back to a 13 inch screen having gotten use to the 14 inch screen on the HP Chromebook. But I have not noticed any difference in viewing ability. And with the machine being about 1 lb lighter – I am glad I made the switch. You really notice the difference with the lighter, smaller power supply (very similar to a tablet charger).Battery life is excellent.
Keyboard response is excellent and only complaint I have is that the sharp edges on the sides of the machine do tend to "cut" into your arms and wrist over time. Not sure if this will eventually turn me off to using the machine – time will tell.Overall performance is good – not complaints regarding speed and responsiveness.Liked the fact that it had an Intel processor and heat has not been a problem even without a fan.
So far none of the hardware issues that some other reviewers have complained about. If I do encounter some issues I will probably not even try to reach Asus support as this can be a frustrating experience. This Asus device is such a refreshing and positive change from my Nexus 7 that Asus also manufactured – but that is a difference story and a different review!
Bought this for my mom. First of all it looks beautiful and sexy which for my mom is a big deal, if she is going to leave it out all the time it better look nice. It is super simple to use and simple to set up. It does everything my mom needs it to do without all the extras my mom would never use anyhow. My mom never restarts her computer so her old windows computer always became sluggish and I would have to remind her to restart it to get full speed again. Not a problem with this Chromebook it never slows down. As far as I know Chrome OS has no viruses or adware so you don’t have to worry about your parents infecting their laptop.
Overall, I would highly recommend this product for older people and younger children. Your experience will be simpler and cleaner. For people age 15-50 you will most likely be better off with the full experience of a regular pc unless you just read emails and chat on facebook in which case this is perfect for you also
4.0 out of 5 starsNice, still getting used to it but love that …

Love this so much, a few days after it came I ended up getting one for my parents! Only issue was something happened with the battery like 4 days later on me… screen just went completely black and it wouldn’t charge. Gave it another go though so called amazon customer service (super impressed) and got a replacement, (which UPS delivered to the wrong house and turned this whole thing into such an ordeal). ANYWAYS, This kinda looks like a mac and both the blue and the red are really vibrant colours. Cant have too many tabs open at onceor starts to slow down but not missing skype or itunes at all. Perfect for taking to class, super light and starts up really quick. Battery is also a dream!
Bought this for my mother-in-law 2.5 years ago. I paid extra for the 2-year protection plan but didn’t use it. My mother-in-law loved the chrome book and used it a lot… until last week… not long after the end of the warranty… when the screen stopped turning on, rendering the unit completely useless. Save your money or get a longer warranty.
5.0 out of 5 starsI researched like crazy and bought this Chromebook

I’m not a Windows fan and as much as I’d want a Macbook, it’s just not going to happen within a few years, so when I needed a laptop/tablet, I researched like crazy and bought this Chromebook. I’ve had it since April 2015 and I just love it. Granted it doesn’t do everything, but for me it’s ideal. It’s fast, reliable and boots up in a few seconds. I have had issues with editing word documents and it’s not compatible with Skype, but those are my only issues thus far. There isn’t a ton of space, but 1T external hard drives are not expensive, if space is an issue. Otherwise, it’s perfect for surfing the web, watching Netflix, sending emails. For someone who wants a tablet but in a laptop form, this one is for you.
4.0 out of 5 starsPerfect for the College/University Student!
Reviewed in Canada on January 4, 2019
I used this laptop to take notes in college and its perfect! It’s light weight so i can carry less with my textbooks. Its so easy to use because of chromebook’s main program. The battery life is amazing and the best for how small it is!
